my company firewall is also linux based. very stable piece of hardware and software.
we are thinking of adding in a wireless module in.

Also my company uses linux for firewall. Trustix I think ... But also uses linux on all development/production servers.

Linux it's still the king on Servers and also have a nice support for embedding devices. And now, slowly, is comming to desktop market

Its perfect for PDAs and Smartphones, remember you can get a really powerfull Linux Live distro on a 50MB micro CD, Austrumi, Puppy Linux and DSL being good examples.
And these are as capable as a full sized Windows install.
