Quote
It was almost two years ago to the day that we reported on Internet Explorer's first-ever drop in browser market share. At the time, IE usage had dropped from 94.8 percent at the beginning of 2004 to 93.9 percent a few months later. As Firefox approached the big 1.0 milestone, its market share continued to soar, and it passed the 10 percent barrier in October 2005.

Step by step IE is losing from it's Market

I use IE but it is good to see someone making a dent in Microsofts domination.

The share can greatly vary from site to site. My statistics continually report Firfox holding 45%-50%

Well, for my site it's 60%, but it could be because I go there often.

These statistics are wrongly produced.
To do a browser survey, they must find different types of people (business people, students...) and do the  survey on them so that they get an unbiased result.

Yeah, but the thing is that many developers who make applications for big companies still focus on IE.  For example, CBS has made its new video clips available on the web; you can watch CBS evening news on the web, for example.  The problem is that it doesn't work perfectly in Firefox, though it works in IE.

Even though FireFox is gaining more and more everyday, Internet Explorer still has the majority. It will take a while for FireFox to get the majority.

I still dont think Firefox will ever gain a majority share of the market purely from the fact that Microsoft has a monopoly on OS's and the average user probably wouldnt ever need to change over to a different browser

If PC manufacturers like Dell and HP start installing Firefox on their machines, the situation might change.  I don't see it happening in any near future though.  Microsoft is a pretty powerful company still.
