Well your blog must have had some really great backlinks to the site, and it must have liked the content, and saw it as very relevant. Usually though, I would recommend for blogs not using articles that are already somewhere else on the internet, Google prefers original and fresh content, which will help your pr even more. But congrats on the PR 2, that means you are heading in the right direction. Again to answer your question, you must have some good backlinks to your blog. thanks.

Well, based from my own experience, my two blogs got both PR 2 after 2 - 4 months of link building and posting. But after that, it didn't gain any PR.

That's kind of surprising as I've heard that you should use original content or spin the articles so Google doesn't see it as duplicated content. That's why I've always written my own content. It could be because of your link building and not the content. I'm kind of surprised and perplexed as to how you got such a good PR. What other things have you done for your site besides using duplicate content? Are you building links or adding new content along with duplicate content?

If the content of the site is so good with out any vulgarity and is spam free, then the search engine gives a good rank with out any optimization. The rank increases when optimization is done to it.
