If you are asking what people prefer organic results or paid results then the answer organic, people trust organic results more than paid results and if you are asking which links are better then i will say free one, paid links are a term of black hat seo and if google will catch it you can get banned for search engine, so it's better to go with free links with quality. Yes link building is a great thing but only when if you do it properly otherwise you will be wasting your time and it can also effect your current rankings.

If you want to know which one is best organic or paid so I want to say that It totally depends on the type or need of the product .both are use for same purpose but paid provides a instant result or ranking and organic also provide results but slow as compare to paid .
