Amazon is one of the biggest advertisers who advertises using Google AdWords.  Also Amazon worked hard to let developers to use web services to create sites selling various products offered by Amazon.  They don't want Google to determine how they rank those sites.  They want a good balance in the market, so that's probably the reason why Amazon decided to go with MSN.  Jeff wants to be a good friend with his neighbor Bill, too ... This rumor has been around for some time, and it's possible that Google develops OS for its internal use, but it's highly unlikely that Google plans to release its own version of OS to the public.  Developing OS is a daunting task.  OS alone really doesn't do it.  It needs to have drivers.  It needs to have a bunch of applications.  It needs to work with memory chips, different CPUs and what have you.
