Today I made first test with TP0.96 and Seo4SMf and was working ok. Just tell me more details about your site and about your versions of apache and php.

Regards

Well, I am still having a problem with mine. It's clean SMF 1.1, TP0.96 and Seo4SMf RC7. Seems to work but does not rewrites more than one page. Everytime a topic is separated on several pages, clicking on 2,3,4 gets me back to page 1. Also, using profile is impossible because it keeps getting to profile frontpage.

Followed your suggestions:
1. You don't have mod_rewrite enabled (try to comment every line from htaccess and discover where is the problem)
2. RewriteBase is not set to /
Tell me if all this are ok ...

And have this to say:
Mod is parcialy working because it rewrites some pages. Also had to change Rewrite base moments after install because it was giving me error.

Might be a server issue. I am using BlueHost (as many people) and it gives me a 500 error that the file seo4smf-redirect.php is writable and then correct it...making it unwritable! :S

First of all disable Seo4Smf and enable just "Search engine friendly URLs" from your admin area (Features and Options also there is a ? ... just click on it and tell me what is writing there) and tell me if is working (you need to have some url's like topic,1.0.html)

I think problem is because you use php_cgi (SMF doesn't like that).

Just "Search engine friendly URLs" on default SMF installation and it does not work.
URLS still /index.php?topic=.
Question: It need an .htaccess file to do that no? And it's yours who is there now.

Hello. I have been talking with BlueHost and, for security reasons (yeh right) they only allow PHP to run as CGI.

They also say the allow mod_rewrite and that's all that is needed and that they have many other php programs that use SEO.  Angry

Yes but SMF (not SEO4SMF) doesn't allow to use "Search engine friendly URLs" with php_cgi.

Just look on this message http://www.webmasterstalks.com/seo-4-smf/i-have-a-big-bug-t837.0.html;msg4679#msg4679

and tell me if you do the changes from there is working.

This patch worked for me also. Thanks a lot.
However I just wonder why SMF dudes are disabling url SE friendly urls when detecting cgi... are we suppose to expect erronic behaviour?
