GF,

I mentioned this before but being involved in SEO to the extent I am I regard this as a crucial and valuable update.

By sitemap I do not mean Google sitemap XML to be clear on that.

What we need is this:

1. A module that will automatically create a sitemap of each page of the forum with the appropriate anchor text as per the Title.

2. Multiple sitemaps: Because Google say they will not usually crawl more than 100 URL's on a page the module needs an option to specify how many listings, e.g. 100 there are to a page and make multiple sitemaps accordingly.

3. Sitemap positioning: Needs to be thought out for best appearance and effectiveness; i.e. easy for search engines to locate and spider. I suggest an additional Info Center table under Forum Stats and Users Online called "Sitemaps".

Thanks!

I haven't seen an SMF sitemap module.

I think it is so important that if you are not intending to do one I will develop it myself and make it available.

Please let me know.

Well I have searched everywhere; no sitemap mod for SMF alone.

Joomap might work with Joomla bridge but not everyone needs that all the time.

I need this like yesterday; I know you are working through core bugs GF, which is important, but any idea when you can do this?

Not hassling; if it is too far out due to your workload I will do it myself and soon.

Thanks.

Excellent! Did you just develop that?

Anyway; great job Smiley

A couple of comments:

1. You need to make the "Poster" column a non-link otherwise the search engines will spider all the member profiles which isn't good.

2. We need to specify the maximum number of links per sitemap and have the system create the appropriate number of sitemaps.

3. I suggest an additional table under "Info Center" at the foot of the forum called "Sitemaps" and the links to the sitemaps will be created there as e.g. "Sitemap 1", "Sitemap 2", "Sitemap 3" etc..

But that's about it. That is a really valuable mod; thanks again for your attention to it Smiley

Thanks anyway; still excellent.

I will wait for your next version on the basis it will be included; no point having a secondary project when this one is so well developed and supported.

Please make it ASAP though Smiley

And make the pinger you are adding ping the sitemaps directly; now that will be something  Grin In fact that is probably the best way to implement the pinger.

Auto ping the sitemap every time an entry is dynamically added; i.e. when a new page is created, and also ping all sitemaps say once per day. You will need to link it to a cron for that.

Thanks again; this is definitely a really valuable mod.
