I can't tell you how pleased I am to find this SEO mod for SMF  Grin

I have a 200,000 post forum and would just like to ask the following before installing this mod:

1. Is it as stable as can be expected at this stage; any known issues?

2. Is an alternative .htaccess provided?

3. Can the mod be uninstalled without affecting anything if necessary?

Thanks!

Hi,

1. Depends from forum 2 forum. For example SSI apps have some problems. but on other side my forum is working in 99%.
2. I don't understand that question.
3. 100% Yes.

2. I don't understand that question.

Well as you must know; mod_rewrite is usually required to translate URL's generally.

I assumed that the standard .htaccess with smf would need the mod_rewrite rules updating to account for your mod.

Is that not the case? Does it work with the default .htaccess file?

For that matter; does it even use mod_rewrite?

Thanks.

Well did not even get started.

I selected the zip file from admin and got:

An Error Has Occurred!
The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted.

I re-downloaded the file to be sure.

Any ideas?

Also; further to my original question; there does seem to be an included .htaccess?

Thanks.

Yes is comming with a .htaccess file (htaccess.txt need to be renamed to .htaccess)

The package is working smooth on a lot of installations. Is possible to have some permissions problems.

I CHMOD'd the packages directory to 777 so no; I would not have thought so.

In the package part of SMF admin, presumably it is simply a case of selecting the local file as a the zip file from the download?

OK; I got around that one; but on the package install one of the components is failing. I have tested this on two different installations and servers with the same result:

10. Execute Modification ./Sources/TPortal.php Test failed

That file is 0 bytes.

I also nosticed that "Seo4SMFAdmin.php" is 0 bytes as well.

This is not a permissions issue; any ideas?

Thanks.

If you don't have TP installed then is nornal to have ./Sources/TPortal.php Test failed. But if you have Seo4SMFAdmin.php 0 bytes ... then is a problem. Just give me more details about your site .

I realised after the last post that TPortal is Tiny Portal which I don't use and is presumably not required.

What can I tell you about the site?

Apart from the TP fail everything else reported success. I only happened to notice the SEO4Admin at 0 bytes when I was checking the install.

Actually I just checked the sources on the other site I uploaded the mod to and Seo4SMFAdmin.php does not even exist on that site. I wonder if the installer did not install the package correctly?

Can I simply upload Seo4SMFAdmin.php to the sources directory, or might the installation be suspect?

Thanks.
