I plan to place 3 square ad units on one page in order to get a much higher CTR.  Does the page have too many ads?  Also is this the best way to earn more using contextual ads?  I presume that I can get a much higher CTR, but what are downsides?

Hmmm ... depends ... if they re blending well in content page then you will get a higher CTR. If not probably all will skip your page... Try to put 3 square ads in the place where you have a lot of content ...

Statisticaly square ads get more clicks than other ads, but take care to blend them very well Smiley

Higher CTR is all good, but how about over all earning?  If you display a bunch of contextual ads on one page, then the page includes cheap ads as well as expensive ads.  How does this affect over all earning?

You cannot predict that. Is possible to have 3 months with clicks only on low paid ads and after that  3 months with only high paid ads ... But I think the procent is between 40-60% for clicks on high paid ads.
