Dmoz is not really active anymore , most of categories doesn't have editors and now it seems better spend that time to get more back links from other sites.

I added my site there like 2 weeks ago is that why its not on there? they say to only add once or something when u add so I didnt want to do it again.

One of my sites was finally added to dmoz recently. I had been submitting about every two months and it took over a year. It wasn't even added to the directory I requested but it's in there now. I'm waiting on my SMF site to be added.
They also weren't accepting url suggestions for a few months but they are now.

Dmoz are a bunch of wankers.
Its worth submitting, but dont expect to get included.
They are severly short on editors, and most are only there to abuse the system anyway.

Google is still utilizing the DMOZ. You are right that many of the categories do not have editors and more people are going away from the dmoz to find other strong backlinks. However, the Dmoz is ranked quite well, and if you are fortunate enough to get listed on the dmoz, it does help you tremendously. It is tough to get listed on the dmoz though. So no, my answer is the dmoz is definitely not dead, not yet. There are rumors that it might be sold to botw.org. so who knows. thanks.

Dmoz takes forever to list your site....it took me almost a year before my site was listed in dmoz....the best thing to do is probabaly become an editor yourself....lol
